Thomas Brown was born in Wilmington, NC. He moved to Washington, D.C. around 1900 where he studied at the Corcoran School of Art. He was also an exhibiting member of the Washington Society of Artists, the Washington Watercolor Club, and the Landscape Club of Washington. He moved to Williamsburg in 1933 where he assisted the Rockefeller's colonial restoration.
