Late classical, circa 1810-15, rosewood veneer with brass inlay and ormolu mounts, white pine secondary woods, rectangular form with hinged and folding lid, brass makers plaque, three lower side by side drawers for music sheets, raised on six tapered and reeded legs on brass casters.

Purchased in 1973 from William P. Firth, III, Surry, Virginia. The seller noted that "Babcock was a pupil of Benjamin Crehore, who is regarded as the father of the American Pianoforte."

Fair condition; sun fading and surface discoloration to left side; case loose on legs; some veneer chipping; currently strung and playable; not guaranteed for musician level.
