The Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jefferson Penn, Reidsville, NC

The Penns purchased the fountainhead in Paris with the understanding that it was originally at Versailles and possibly made by Louis Lerambert (French, 1630 - 1670). This lot is accompanied by an antique engraving illustrating a similar, possibly this same, sculpture by Lerambert in the Garden of Versailles.
