Purchased by the Penns in Italy during the 1920s, the door frame columns have mask capitals, and are carved and pierced walnut with scrolling flower and leaf design on a pedestal base; the door frame is walnut with cast plaster fruit, flower, and mask elements. Dimensions of interior openings: Doorway closer to stairway hall (85 x 49 1/4 in.), Doorway closer to Sitting Room (86 x 49 in.)
