This service was acquired by the consignor from an older couple living along the coast of South Carolina. According to the couple, the husband acquired this service, a water ewer, and an English sterling cann from an antiques dealer in Florence, SC in the late 1960s. The husband was told at that time that the pieces belonged to the Warley family of Charleston, SC. All three pieces of the tea service bear a "W" script monogram, please note that one other item from the same collection - a water ewer (lot 397) is engraved "JEW" and "TSW." The English sterling cann is engraved "Frederick F. Warley from Ann E. Warley April 1862."
