Hand colored prints after original works of commissioned art by Carl Nebel, from George Wilkins Kendall, THE WAR BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES AND MEXICO ILLUSTRATED (New York: D. Appleton & Company, 1851). Titles include: "Bombardment of Vera Cruz" (1 in. chip along top edge); "Capture of Monterey" (5 in. crease along lower right edge of margin); "Genl. Scott's entrance into Mexico" (small dig along lower margin, scratch in lower right field); "Molino del Rey - attack made upon the molino" (small chip along right edge); Storming of Chapultepec - Quitman's attack." Unframed.

Kendall's folio of Mexican War prints was offered to the public as a very expensive limited edition. They are still recognized as that conflict's finest artistic tribute to American arms.
