Leather Monogram Canvas Suitcase, Louis Vuitton
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Circa 1970s, manufactured by The French Company under special license for Louis Vuitton and retailed through Saks Fifth Avenue, the suitcase being the Pullman model and designed in traditional monogram canvas with caramel colored trim in structured but soft sided design, the interior lined in dark brown cotton with fitted straps and side pockets as well as proper tags stating its manufacture by the French Company for Louis Vuitton, completed by a three sided zipper with lock closure and top handle with Hartman leather luggage tag, the top of the suitcase embossed with monogram "R.B." in black and engraved plaque reading "Saks Fifth Avenue."

20 x 25 x 7 in.

Due to the increasing demand for Louis Vuitton products in the United States by the 1970s, Louis Vuitton contracted out the French Company, an American based firm, to produce Louis Vuitton luggage and handbags under special license within the United States and sell them through high end department stores such as Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. This partnership lasted until the early 1990's.

In good condition overall but with definite wear, particularly to the caramel leather trim (although structurally sound) and some small markings to monogram canvas although not readily noticeable; the suitcase presents well with a nice patina and is ready for another life of travel.

$300 - 500
