French, 1970s, designed as a three quarter length day dress composed of red patterned silk depicting intertwining C's throughout the entire dress, each long sleeve accented by three round red plastic buttons, each set with a wonderful gilt metal lion, the red silk collar accented by two buttons of identical form along with a small bow detail, labeled "Chanel Creations/Made in France".

The lion was one of Coco Chanel's favorite motifs, often seen in the details of her collections, of which this dress is a wonderful example. Karl Lagerfeld recently reminded the public of Chanel's zodiac sign and love of the lion through an enormous statue of a lion used in the 2010 haute couture show in Paris.

In excellent condition with little to no wear to silk throughout. There is one tiny stain at the front near the collar near the front pleats which should probably come out with a professional dry clean.
