Jacques Fath, one of the most important Parisian couturiers, can be credited for not only creating wonderfully wearable clothes for the wealthy post war lady, but also for recognizing the significant talent of young people who would soon become extraordinary designers in their own right, including Valentino Garavani and Hubert de Givenchy. In 1949, Fath partnered with Joseph Halpert & Company, an American garment manufacturer, so that American women who could afford beautiful clothes but did not travel to Paris for the couture shows could have a little bit of Jacques Fath in their wardrobe. Passing away in 1954 of leukemia, the house officially closed in 1957.

In very good to excellent condition, with little to no visible wear to silk. There are several small areas, particularly towards the back right proper side of the skirt which have small spots of discoloration, but these are not noticeable, particularly when worn.
