Two rocky coastal landscapes, both are oil on board, one signed "Francis Dixon" lower left and the other with like signature lower right, both paintings are presented in gilt wooden frames having silk mats.

Francis Stillwell Dixon was born into a wealthy family with deep roots in old New York and Connecticut. Trained at the Art Students League, Dixon initially worked as an illustrator. The bulk of his career, however, was given to painting landscapes and maritime vistas. Dixon was a member of Allied Artists of America and the Salamagundi Club, New York. His work has been exhibited in such esteemed venues as the Corcoran Gallery, Washington, D. C. and The National Academy of Design, New York.
