Hand-colored copperplate engraving (Paris: Guillaume Vallet, n.d.), early 1690s, dedicated to John Frederick, Duke of Brunswick, illustrates constellations such as Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Perseus, Cassiopea and Andomeda. Also shown is the dated path of a 1682 comet now known as Halley's Comet. Two side panels of Latin text conclude with French instructions for use. Professionally matted and presented in a plain wooden frame. Sheet 19 x 28.25 in.; SS 19.75 x 28.5; DOA 30 x 28.5 in.
