Each poured and molded to create a bas relief sculpture of calla lilies, the glass plaques are then painted on the reverse; the first plaque signed "Lilies April 3 1998 5/35 D.S.," 15.5 x 12 x 2.5; the second plaque signed "Lilies March 17 1998 9/35 D.S.," 15 x 11.5 x 2.5; the third plaque signed "Lilies June 18 1998 D.S.," 15 x 11.5 x 2.5; and the fourth is unsigned, 15 x 11.5 x 2.5.

Born in Asheville, Sultan received his BFA from the UNC-CH and his MFA from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago. His work has been shown in many solo and group exhibits, including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Corcoran in Washington, D.C. His works are in numerous public and private collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art (NYC), the Ackland Art Museum (Chapel Hill, NC), and the High Museum of Art (Atlanta, GA).
