Property of a Gentleman, Raleigh, North Carolina Christie's New York, "The Doris Duke Collection", June 3-5, 2004, lot 1200 (partial)

These three pieces were formally in the collection of Doris Duke, one of America's most notable heiresses and philanthropists. Ms. Duke had great interest in beautiful objects and her homes including "Shangri La" in Honolulu, "Rough Point" in Newport, Rhode Island, "Falcon's Lair" in Los Angeles, Duke Farms in Hillsborough Township, New Jersey, as well as two apartments in New York City and her Boeing 737 Jet all contained exquisite objects. In June 2004, Christie's auctioned off the majority of her magnificent jewels, fine art, antiques and objects in a three day sale to benefit the Doris Duke Foundation. She is often thought of as one of the first people to bring a true appreciation for the Asian culture to the western world.

One of the pair of jade rabbits is missing his two front feet, other two pieces appear to be in very good condition with the rock crystal rabbit having slight roughness to one foot and both having light scratching and nicking to stones.
