Th first, Amereican, a painted silhouette of a young girl identified en verso as Emily A .Skinner with pencil inscription "Emily A. Skinner / taken when a school / girl in New Haven / Given me by herself / in 1836 / Mrs I. S. Wood." An additional inscription states "Given to Mary Judith / by (first name illegible) Wood Oct. 1884"; housed in a later oval frame (Card 4.5 x 3 in.; SS 7.5 x 5.5 in.; DOA 10.75 x 8.75 in.); the second a cut and paste of a gentleman, laid on card and housed in a painted wood frame (SS 3 x 2 in.; DOA 6 x 5.25 in.); the third a simple hollow cut of a gentleman lacking side features and wearing a brown jacket with black lapels in feigned oval, wooden frame with foliate gilt surround (SS 4.5 x 3.5 in.; DOA 8 x 7 in.), paper has been glued to outer surface area of silhouette.
