The two piece set, composed of fish slice and serving fork, retailed by Hayden & Whilden of Charleston, SC; in the "Oriental" pattern patented in 1855 by John Polhemus (New York), each handle with script monogram "WHW," the knife blade with ornately engraved foliate, floral, and fish design, the fork tines also ornately engraved.
