18th century or earlier, Rococo form having an asymmetrical cartouche at the crest, centered with relief carved tri-partite coat-of -arms consisting of a crown over a laurel wreath encircling two canted shields, one emblazoned with the Maltese Cross and the other with the emblem of Castile and Leon, these surrounded by extensive scrolls and rosettes. Finished on three sides.

9'6" x 5'3" x 12 in. (Body 58 x 9 in.)

A similar pairing of armorial devices is sculpted above the entrance to the Auberge de Castile et Leon in Valetta, Malta. The structure, now housing the Maltese prime minister's offices, once served Knights Templar hailing from the Spanish heartland of Castile and Leon.

Later structural supports to top and upper portion; repair to left side crest; expected chips and loss to gilt/gesso; several vertical cracks.
