Fencai glaze, probably Republican Period, each with apocryphal Yongzheng mark, the exteriors elaborately decorated in enamels depicting dragons and flowers against a sea foam ground, the interior with butterflies, both presented in a fitted silk brocade box with glass panel front, each bowl with fitted brocade covered pedestals.

Collection of Richard D. Weigle of Annapolis, Maryland Mr. Weigle, a graduate of Yale with a doctorate in diplomatic history, taught at a Yale sponsored program in Hunan, China from 1931-1933. He returned to China and lived there in 1943-1945. He served with the State Department on the desk for Far Eastern affairs from 1946 through 1949. Following this post, he accepted the position of President of St. John's College in Annapolis, retiring in 1980.
