Wally Findlay Galleries, 1982 Collection of a Gentleman with residences in New York City and Southampton, NY

Jinshan paintings are experiencing a resurgence in interest since Wally Findlay Galleries introduced them to the buying public in 1982. Created by peasants working in the Jinshan County outside Shanghai, they depict the slowly disappearing folk traditions of the area in brilliant colors and decorative patterns. Paintings from this school were recently featured in an exhibition at the Macdonald Stewart Art Centre at the University of Guelph in Ontario entitled "Chinese Drawings from Huxian, Jinshan and Qijiang." (February 11 to July 19, 2009).
