A Fine CT Chippendale Bonnet-Top Secretary

Circa 1760-80, cherry with white pine and chestnut secondary woods, two part form, the bookcase section is surmounted by a bonnet top with flanking and central hand-turned spiral "flame" finials over (2) blind doors with inset panels, adjustable shelf interior. The desk has a slant front which opens to reveal a divided and stepped interior over (4) graduated lipped drawers over a shaped skirt with centered carved pendant raised on molded spurred bracket feet. Original brasses throughout.

Rosehead and T-nail construction.

Cornice with restoration to right applied molding and to the back tip of the applied molding on the left side; later hinges. The base with a repair to the molding around the well; a repair to the rt. end of the lid; second drawer with break and repair to the front; third drawer with small lip restoration; bottom drawer with lip repair; lacking (3) locks. Expected shrinkage cracks.
