Watercolor on thin pink paper on heavier paper, identified sitter Olive Jane Kingsley, daughter of Wareham Kingsley and Olive Jane Avery Kingsley. An itinerant folk artist in the New England area, Ellsworth is known for his miniature watercolor profiles of "New England squires, their ladies, and their children...which he portrayed with candid realism in stiff, awkward poses..." mounted together in original wood veneer frame. For a later photograph of the sitter, see lot 166. These portraits, A36 and A37, were exhibited in the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Collection October 13 - December 1, 1974.
