Gibson Master Model F-5 Mandolin by Derrington
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
2001, serial # V70314 with a secondary label signed and dated by Charlie Derrington on October 23, 2001. Spirit varnish finish over bound spruce top, figured maple back, sides and neck; Waverly tuners, adjustable bridge, inlaid mother-of-pearl "The Gibson" logo and urn on headstock. With a hardshell case patterned after early Geig & Sons products.

Charlie Derrington (1955 - 2006) adapted Lloyd Loar's original 1920s mandolin specifications to revive the F-5 Master Model line. An incomparably gifted luthier, Derrington was chosen to restore Bill Monroe's iconic instrument after it had been smashed by vandals. Derrington's instruments are the direct heirs to Loar's legacy and are becoming classics in their own right.

Perfectly set up with no structural issues whatsoever, this instrument has only the honest play wear expected of a fine work horse. A truly exceptional mandolin.
