An eagle with outstretched wings perched atop an American shield with arrows clasped in his talons and holding a banner in his beak that reads "Benj. Gridley, Pawtucket, R. I. March 4, 1875," matted and framed under glass, a label on the verso reveals further information about the work - it was completed by "Benjamin Gridley when a 15-year old pupil at Church Hill Grammar School in Pawtucket, RI and given to a classmate, Sarah Stetson. Returned by her in 1941, after 66 or 67 years. - Pawtucket, R. I., May 22, 1942." Matted and framed under glass.

Not examined out of the frame - some light toning, but overall appears to be in fine condition.
