The estate of Vernon E. Clark, Hollywood producer. Joe De Yong worked as a costume designer for several westerns including "The Plainsman" (1936, starring Gary Cooper and Jean Arthur, and directed by Cecil B. DeMille) and "Buffalo Bill" (1944, starring Joel McCrea and Maureen O'Hara, directed by William Wellman). These four lots feature sketches that may have been for these "The Plainsman" as the lady's fringed buckskin jacket in lot 246 is strikingly similar to one worn by Jean Arthur in a still from the film.
