Poul Kjaerholm, Pair of PK 22 Chairs, Fritz Hansen
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
(Denmark, 1929-1980), pair of lounge chairs designed 1956, black leather, brushed steel, with Denmark stamp to metal seat rail.

28 x 25 x 25 in.

Estate collection of Helaine Plaut, Manhattan, N.Y. Retailed through Georg Jensen. Received as a gift, 1960s.

The elegant PK22 easy chair stands as an icon for Poul Kj¾rholm's work. He was inspired by the light, elegant klismos chair created by the ancient Greeks. With this piece, Kj¾rholm reduced the chair to three elements: legs, seat and connecting clamps. Through his disciplined approach, the chair's cantilevered seat is stabilized by a double cross beam that is precisely positioned so the body rests naturally without a hard front edge or top rail. - deconet.com

Normal wear to original leather at edges; rust spots to steel.
