51 Confederate Georgia $10 Notes in Their Original Period Wallet
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Dated March 20, 1865, each with a black Georgia hand stamp on the otherwise blank back. Eighteen of the notes in this small hoard have sequential serial numbers.

From the Collection of a Southern Gentleman

Issued near the Civil War's end, these unused notes were kept together in the pigskin wallet included here. A 20th century ink inscription on the wallet reads "made by S. J. Kidd." Confederate military rosters show soldiers named "S. J. Kidd" from Alabama, Georgia and Virginia. The Georgian served in "Moore's Company, Baldwin Infantry." Milledgeville, Georgia's wartime capital, is in Baldwin County and is where the notes originated.

Uncirculated with expected aging; some of the notes with minor creasing.
