Possibly Meiji Period (1868-1912), lobed molded cylinder body decorated with peony sprays and butterflies between shaped iron red and gilt diaper banding at the mouth of the jar and base, likewise on lid, finial of lid is shaped like a plum blossom.

hairline crack on underside of lid and on bottom side of jar; minor rubbing of gilding to edges of jar and lid.
