Japanese Meiji Period Imari Porcelain Charger

Probably early 20th century, porcelain with iron red, dark cobalt blue, light cobalt blue, green enamels and heavily applied gilding, center medallion is decorated with an old man in a boat under a stylized pine tree, surrounded by vignettes that alternate between images of birds and purely decorative patterns, floral decoration on underside, with five kiln spur marks on the bottom.

Like her mother and grandmother, she had a great knowledge and appreciation of antiques and enjoyed decorating with them throughout her home.
