Frisby Family Civil War Era Photographic Archive and CDV Album
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Consisting of four CDVs identified by inscriptions as Lt. Decatur W. Frisby, 133rd New York Volunteers. Two of the images are military and two show Frisby as a postwar civilian. Frisby enlisted as a corporal in Co. "C," on September 10, 1862 and mustered out a first lieutenant on June 6, 1865. His field service commenced in Louisiana and concluded in Virginia at war's end. This gouping also includes the following: two (2) sixth-plate tintypes of Union soldiers in half cases, one of which shows a standing subject and another which has two seated subjects; three (3) Union CDVs of unidentified sitters; two (2) small civilian tintypes; an unidentified Union soldier and wife CDV; a CDV of a young Chinese soldier with a Shanghai backmark; and (19) civilian CDVs and a gem tintype still housed in a leather album. These are generally identified as members of the "Frisbie" family.

The images are in good to very good condition; the tintype of two seated soldiers is dark with cracks in the emulsion; the album has some damp stains and splits within.
