Dated 1921, possibly Low Country, SC., the walking stick is actually a sapling which was encircled by a vine, then enhanced by carving and paint to create a snake-like image, the knob is incised with cross-hatching, an open bible is carved above the date, the shaft below the 'snake' has allover small punch marks, later brass cuff at the base.
