Two Japanese Woodblock Prints by Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797-1861)

Edo period (1615-1868), ink and colors on paper, both prints are lined with a thin backing paper, oban format, trimmed, one print has an image of a samurai figure seated writing calligraphy is probably from a larger triptych composition, the second is from the series "Kiso Kaido 69 Stations," presented loose.

14 1/4 x 9 5/8 in.; 14 x 9 3/4 in.

Some color fading; wear around edges; one print with holes on right hand side (probably from a previous album mounting.)
