A Six Panel Chinese Coromandel Screen

Mid-20th century, black lacquer with applied gold and silver metallic leaf and cream with red highlights, the front features a court scene with figures engaged in activity among pavilions and gardens all presided over by a matron sitting in the largest pavilion, many fine details throughout the scene, all contained within a dragon border, below each panel are archaic bronzes, on the back side of the screen are cranes set in a lush landscape of pine, plum blossoms, bamboo, and poppies, stands on raised capped feet.

Good condition; some vertical cracking on front panels of lacquer; slight horizontal crazing; some areas of red; losses to lacquer on exposed spines of panels; some possible overpainting or repair to black lacquer in places; missing pins to lower hardware between center panels.
