Mark of Walker & Hall, Sheffield (1925), table-top form, the hinged cover engraved To Commander J. S. Hammill, R.N. / From the Captain and Ward Room Officers H.M.S. Excellent / 3rd December 1925 beneath the stone frigate's crest and the Royal Navy's motto Si vis pacem, para bellum (If you wish for peace, prepare for war).

From the Estate of the late Dr. Alison Mary Turner, Wake Forest, NC Much of the silver in Dr. Turner's collection was inherited from her parents, Royal Navy Captain and Mrs. John Schomberg Hammill and great-grandparents, Admiral Sir Montague Edward Browning and Lady Ruth Boldero Browning.
