Circa 1855-1861, marked S. Kirk & Son / 11.OZ, ornately hand-worked with scenes of Italianate ruins and buildings in a sylvan setting surrounded by floral and foliate repoussé, the handle with ram's head, period CJ monogram to the open cartouche below spout.

This pitcher was a wedding present to Camilla Johnson, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Reverty Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a U.S. Senator from Maryland during the Civil War and later served as U.S. Attorney General and Minister to the Court of St. James.

By descent through the Ridgely family to the present owner, Mr. John Sylvester, Jr.

Good estate condition with several minor dings to body and some wear to stippled decoration due to polishing.
