Meiji period (1868-1912), bowls and covers in original signed tomobako, signed on inside "Taishin" in black ink with red artist's seal, five bowls and covers with autumn vegetables decoration in black, gold, silver, and red takamaki-e and hiramaki-e on natural wood grain ground, the interior of the cups and covers with black lacquer ground and decorated also with gold, silver, and red takamaki-e and hiramaki-e, a stunning museum worthy presentation by a master lacquer artist of the Meiji period.
