The underside of this measure is marked for Wiltons, a famous shellfish monger established in 1742 and still in operation today. In 1868, Wiltons received its first Royal Warrant as Purveyor of Oysters to Queen Victoria and also to the Prince of Wales, who was a loyal customer.
