A rare Watanabe published "gift" print, dated Showa 10 (1935), woodblock print, ink and colors on paper, in margin under print written in pencil "Imperial University, Red Gate, Tokyo" and "Shiro Kasamatsu," signed on lower right hand side "Shiro" with red "Kasamatsu" seal, with a Watanabe red "gift" seal on lower left corner, this print features the bright red gate erected in 1827 by Maeda Nariyasu to welcome Lady Yasu-hime from the Tokugawa shogunate family as his bride, it became the entrance to the Tokyo National University in 1903, later moved but still in existence, it has been designated a National Treasure and an Important Cultural Property, this print is presented loose.
