An alkaline glazed storage jar with slip runs, bulbous form with a taper towards the base, approximately one gallon, stamped on the upper shoulder "DMH", an unusual stamp for Hartsoe, possibly preceding the known DH stamp.

During the Civil War, Daniel served in the Confederacy (Company B, 23rd NC Troops), and survived the conflict, returning to his native Lincoln County to produce pottery.
