The first a master salt with rubbed hallmarks, mark of Hester Bateman, partially lobed body raised on a pedestal foot (2.5 troy oz., 2 x 3.25 in. diameter) (foot likely a later addition, minor denting to body, repaired tear to rim); the second with mark of John Emes, London (1806), with pricked decoration, hinged cover, no monogram or engraving, with cobalt glass liner (3.95 troy oz.) (sprung lid, split to waist).
