The first a sugar caster with mark of William Gibson & John Langman, London (1896), paneled form with decorative piercing to cover, armorial engraving of a song bird, engraved with the proverb "Anima Esuriens Etiam Amarum Pro Dulci Sumet." (When you are hungry, even bitter food tastes sweet) to lower body, retailed by Goldsmiths Company on Regent Street (8.5 in., 9 troy oz.) (very good estate condition); the second a circular salver, mark of "RH" in a rectangular punch, London (1873) hallmarks, with lion rampant armorial engraving (6.25 in. diameter, 5.4 troy oz.) (some denting).
