Two Meiji Period Japanese Shibayama Inlay Lacquered Wood Panels

Meiji period (1868-1912), both panels have immensely rich detail articulated in shell, mother-of-pearl, and bone along with carved wood, each has a vivid blue circular panel in the center of a deep black rectangular ground, the circular panels are inlaid with depictions of a parrot on an elegant hanging swing and the other a snowy white owl on a flowering branch, probably originally set as a two-panel screen and then fitted into cabinet doors when arriving on the continent.
