Mark of workmaster Julius Rappoport, 1882-1899 combined St. Petersburg and 88 standard mark, poorly struck Fabergé mark in Cyrillic, the sandstone orb raised on four silver ball feet and with whimsical wings and collar.

Julius Rappoport was born to a Jewish family in Kovno, Lithuania in 1851. By 1884 he was in St. Petersburg and the head silversmith for Fabergé. Considered one of the best workmasters at Fabergé, examples of Rappaport's work are in numerous important collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY; The State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia; The Walters Art Museum, Baltimore, MD; Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, VA; Hillwood Estate, Museum and Garden, Washington, DC; and more.

One wing with slight separation to body along one side and with possible restoration to sandstone above.
