The original Tours of Dr. Syntax was comprised of a series of prints by Thomas Rowlandson (as seen here) and a written narrative by William Combe. The Tours recounts the adventures of Dr. Syntax, a fictional 19th-century clergyman who travels England in search of the picturesque, consolation, and a wife. The book production process here was unusual, as Rowlandson first completed the printed illustrations and subsequently commissioned Combe to write a narrative inspired by his prints.

Some with light toning and several stains; not examined out of frames.
