An Early Charles and Ray Eames, Lounge Chair and Ottoman
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
1956, high grade rosewood veneer, original down filled black naugahyde upholstery, early three screw configuration to underside of arms, swivel chair with conforming ottoman having slip on cushion glides, chair with shadow mark of an early Charles Eames foil label (the circular labels were used post 1957), and Herman Miller paper label; together with a pair of extra aluminum head rest connectors and rubber shocks.
Chair 32 x 34 x 30 in.; Ottoman 16 x 26 x 21 in.
The consignor acquired the chair from the original family 20 years ago, who purchased it in 1956 as a Christmas gift for their father. An early example in very good condition. The naugahyde seen here was originally an expensive choice in upholstery, but proved to be longer lasting and low maintenance.
Good estate condition with minor scuffs to rosewood from use.
