19th century, a large black lacquered box hand painted with lush lotus blossom plants on the sides and the front doors and top decorated with birds and delicate plum blossoms, the back is painted with Chinese calligraphy, there is a red seal on the lower left corner of the top of the box, the box has two flanking handles, the lid opens from the front, there are two doors that open in the front revealing an open interior, metal hardware.
