J. Stevens, patented 1869 but produced for a number of years after that date, cast iron with wooden monkey inside cupola. To operate one would pull the chain next to the front door; the top of the cupola will pop up exposing the monkey; place a coin on the platform in front of the monkey and the weight of the coin causes the top and monkey figure to fall back into the bank with a deposit having been made.
