Jean Saussac was a Resistance fighter during WWII and took up painting in 1943. Two years after the Liberation he enrolled at the Montparnasse Academy of Painting, which was under the direction of André Lhote. By 1948 he was settled in his hometown of Antraigues, devoting his life to painting and his community.
