19th century or early 20th century, square shaped box and cover with dimpled corners, decorated with a variety of patterns to ground of lid and high relief carvings of two noble ladies standing under a pine tree by a mountainous seascape, bordered with curling leaves and vine, the sides carved with blooming flora, black lacquer interior and underside.

7 3/8 x 7 3/8 x 2 5/8 in.

Some slight loss to lacquer at edges; interior and underside appears to be re-lacquered.
