Meiji period (1868-1912), cast in the archaic gushape, this pair of bronzes has a more exaggerated style from its Chinese inspiration, adding fanciful low relief decoration to the body of vases in shaped medallions and on the lappets at neck and foot, both with elephant head handles, with impressed 11 character mark to underside of each.

6 in., with stand 7 in.

Specks of white; rubbing and wear to surface; a few minor nicks to underside edge.
