Qing dynasty (1644-1912), a midnight blue silk ground embroidered surcoat intricately embroidered in white and polychrome threads featuring eight roundels of stylized cranes holding lingzhi bordered by Chinese clouds with Buddhist treasure motifs, a wide lishui border of waves with mountains having the Eight Daoist emblems baxian in the waves also repeats on the edges of the sleeves, the midnight blue silk is embroidered all over with butterflies, lined.

Some separation of lining from exterior fabric; some tears to lining; tears at neckline; one frog toggle on front has come undone; separation at seam of back section about two inches above vent; some discoloration and fading to blue silk lining; one small puncture hole to front of robe about four inches from bottom near edge; a few pulls to silk exterior.
