Bears Jiajing period (1522-66) six character mark to underside in underglaze blue, a rare porcelain box and cover decorated in only reds, greens, and yellows, every side is finely painted with a phoenix and dragon facing towards a flaming pearl, the symbols of the empress and the emperor, elegantly shaped edges, raised on a slight foot.
